On November 27, 2013, Professor Anthony Saich of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and Professor Xue Lan of Tsinghua University paid a visit to the Kaifeng Foundation after the invitation of Dr. Whitney Duan, Chairwoman of the Board of Kaifeng Foundation. At the Kaifeng Institute of Tsinghua University, they conducted an in-depth discussion on the strategic plan of the Kaifeng Foundation, the mission of its Research Council for the “Kaifeng Report”, and the staff composition of the Research Council. The meeting affirmed the decision to appoint Professor Anthony Saich and Professor Xue Lan as the co-chairs of the Research Council on the “Kaifeng Report.”

The “Kaifeng Report” is a strategic research report presented by the Kaifeng Foundation on the basis of reviewing its strategies throughout past years and clarifying fields slated for future development. By centering on the mission of Kaifeng to “pursue progress in humanity and promote social development”,the report will bring the world’s most intelligent scholars and experts together to identify the main threats to humanity and understand the universal laws of social development. It will provide forward-looking strategic guidance for Kaifeng that will help effectively determine its core funding areas strategies, and help the organization fulfill its mission and vision.

Under the leadership of the Chairs, the Research Council for the “Kaifeng Report” will determine the framework, structure and schedule of the “Kaifeng Report” by conducting extensive research, interviews, and exchanges and will eventually complete the task of writing the report.
