The Fourth Kaifeng Humanities Reading Camp Held in Chengdu
Themed on “Political Forms in History”, Kaifeng Seminar on Humanities 2018 was held in Mount Qingcheng, Chengdu, from July 14 to 20, 2018. Convened by Li Meng, Professor of Philosophy at Peking University, the seminar attracted scholars of humanities from prestigious institutions including Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Hong Kong, Renmin University of China, Shanghai International Studies University, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. This year, participants focused on a shorter list of books, and had discussions on six books (five topics), i.e. “Bianhu Qimin”(registration of commoner households), “Land and Lordship”, “The King’s Two Bodies”, “Coercion, Capital and European States A.D. 990-1992”and “Nomos of the Earth”, and “Inner Asian Frontiers of China”.
